John Lennon left his mark in this world with the unforgettable song “Imagine.” No one has ever said it better and I doubt if this isn’t the melody closest to the hearts of all mankind. The world he envisioned might be the one thing that man will never see. But if we look not too far, there’s one day in each year when at least in this land we come close to it.

Every Thanksgiving Day, I remember John Lennon with deep affection and wish him eternal peace. But I am also reminded of the blessings in my life and give thanks for them. You receive this note because you have made a difference in my life and that puts you among those blessings. This is my way of saying thank you and to wish you and yours a peaceful and happy life.

Now sing it with me and see how much of today’s sentiments are reflected in the lyrics. I smile to myself and think that if John Lennon had lived to see today’s technology, he might just tweak his message in a text, “Imagine Thanksgiving worldwide!”

“Imagine”

Imagine there’s no heaven

It’s easy if you try

No hell below us

Above us only sky

Imagine all the people

Living for today…

Imagine there’s no country

It isn’t hard to do

Nothing to kill or die for

And no religion too

Imagine all the people

Living life in peace…

You may say I’m a dreamer

But I’m not the only one

I hope someday you’ll join us

And the world will be as one . . .
